JAMMU, Feb 12: NABARD organized a three-day exposure visit for 25 Lavender farmers of Doda and Ramban districts from February 8.
On first day, farmers/aspiring entrepreneurs visited lavender nurseries and distillation unit established by Bharat Bhushan, a progressive farmer at Kheileni Top (Doda) who guided the participants on preparation of field for nursery and distillation of lavender oil. Thereafter, farmers visited KVK Doda where scientists provided them necessary input on cash crops.
For next two days, farmers visited IIIM Jammu for important inputs and technical support/training in cultivation, processing, value addition and marketing, available incentives for aromatic plants and knowhow on quality planting material.
The farmers/aspiring entrepreneurs also had interaction with the aromatic farmers from other States viz. Uttarakhand, UP, Gujarat through VC. They also visited NABARD Regional Office in Jammu for experience sharing and on their learning. Farmers of FPOs promoted in Kathua and Samba were also invited for interaction.
