Extend Ayushman Bharat to migrants outside J&K also: VKS

JAMMU, Oct 14: A meeting of the Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) , Delhi Unit was held following the decision of the Government to bring Kashmiri migrants under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to Kashmiri migrants in Jammu and it was demanded that the scheme be extended to every Kashmiri displaced wherever he or she is.
The meeting was chaired by Paviter Handoo, president of VKS Delhi unit, who is also a former KOA, USA president. It said “While we appreciated the Government of India and J&K administration for having extended various Central welfare schemes including Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to Kashmiri migrants in Jammu and setting of special camps for registration of the same, we would like to request the Government to cover all Kashmiri migrants under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme and other welfare schemes”.
The Delhi NCR unit of Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj felt that it is time to bring before the notice of the Government that several thousands of Kashmiri migrants including relief holders from Delhi NCR are in dire need of such a cover. The Resident Commissioner’s Office can act as a nodal office for issuance of benefits under the schemes.
In this connection, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, Delhi NCR president, Handoo said ,“We will hold consultations with other KP groups and also was will write to MHA and other concerned agencies in this regard.”
Those who attended the meeting included Avtar Nehru, Bhawani Pandita(coordinator), Ramesh Kaul, Virendra Kachru, Sunil Bhan, Surinder Gigoo, Rohit Kak and Sunil Razdan.
