HIRANAGAR, Dec 3: An extension lecture on ‘Cyber Crime’ was organized by the Computer Application Department and IQAC Cell of GLDM Degree College, here today.
The chief guest and keynote speaker was SSP Ramesh Chander Kotwal. The lecture was held under the initative ‘My College My Pride’ of the Department of Higher Education with a motive to make students aware about the increasing rate of cyber thefts/attacks.
The program was started with the formal welcome address delivered by College Principal Dr Pragya Khanna. She shared her valuable views about different cyber threats.
The SSP Ramesh Chander Kotwal in his talk enlightened students about the use of the internet in a judicious way and deliberated how cyber criminals lure the users with attractive offers to get their personal details to hack their social accounts and bank accounts.
He further added that we should be very careful responding to these kinds of calls and deliberated that students should know how to manage their time and divide it according to the priority in day to day life so that at the end of the day we should know how much time we are devoting in positive activities.
Around 150 to 200 students of different semesters have attended the program. A question answer session was also held in which the resource person responded in detail to clear their doubts.
The program was conducted by Prof Kiran Thappa and was organized by Prof Sujat Khan, HoD Computer Applications and IQAC Coordinator.
