Factoo takes stock of problems of industrial unit holders

JAMMU, Dec 5: The Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Farooq Ahmad Factoo, visited the office of Association of Industries (AoI), Gangyal and took stock of the problems being faced by the industrial unit holders in an interactive session with the Association members.
In the meeting it was informed that SICOP is upgrading the existing infrastructure in Industrial Estate under Centrally sponsored Cluster Development Programme/ State Task Force and about 90% of the project has already been completed and that total project would be completed by March 2014.
The Commissioner was accompanied by Director, Industries and Commerce (Jammu), GA Quershi, Managing Director, SICOP, RL Tickoo and Managing Director, SIDCO, M Mauzzam.
During the meeting, president, AoI, Balbir Kumar, apprised the Commissioner of various issues being faced by the industrial unit holders particularly of Gangal area.
General secretary of the Association, Virender Jain, highlighted various issues pertaining to the development scenario of industries viz process of annual assessment every year for Toll Tax exemption, purchase preference to local SSI units in turnkey projects, release of funds for Grid Station (Gangyal), removal of ban on polythene bags, ownership rights for industrial land to the unit holders, functioning of DIC, VAT refund from SICOP, improvement of power and industrial infrastructure and marketing support in the industries especially the local SSI units.
He also voiced for release of funds to SICOP for maintenance of adjoining roads connecting Industrial Area Gangyal to various colonies, besides acceptance of receipt of Pollution Control Board in the offices for any task if No Objection Certificate is not issued within stipulated time.
The Commissioner assured that he would try his best to resolve the issues pertaining to the industrial sector and would plead for the issues pertaining to other departments.
