Factory workers hold protest

Excelsior Correspondent
KATHUA, July 25: The workers of several factories and others connected with the labour work in the industrial area held protest demonstration outside the office of Assistant Labour Commissioner here today.
Scores of  workers from the Industrial area Kathua assembled in front of the office of the Labour Department here and  staged demonstration. They were raising slogans against the  Labour Minister , Labour Commissioner and the local district head  of the department for ignoring the plight of the labour class facing exploitation at the hands of  the management of the unit holders, especially from outside.
They pointed out that many unit holders who have invested here just to take benefits of the incentives from State Government thrown away workers at any time. The worker class is harassed and victimized and unions take up the issue with the Labour Department officials but they hardly act  and come to the rescue of poor workers. They alleged some nexus between the field officials of the department with the management of these unit holders and said that labour Department seems to have been watching the interests of the unit holders and not the workers. After hold protest for about an hour they dispersed.
