Factory workers’ leader beaten up, thrown on road

SAMBA, Feb 18: A factory worker leading protests, for the wages hike for the last couple of days in SIDCO complex Samba was picked by some hired goons and then thrown on the road nearly `half- dead’ near new Bus Stand with serious injuries this morning.
Some people noticed the youth lying near Bus Stand with serious injuries and reported the matter to police. A Samba police party shifted the victim to District Hospital, Samba where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his serious condition. The victim was later identified as Madan Gopal, resident of Rattanpur Sarara village, presently working in Cadila Pharmaceuticals. The doctors made the Medico Legal Case and forwarded to the Jammu hospital.
SHO concerned when contacted said that injured was not fit for giving a statement. He said the police has yet to register a case in this connection. When asked about any preliminary findings regarding kidnapping and torture of the factory workers’ leader by some suspected hired goons, the SHO said police had no such report.
SSP Samba, Israr Khan said the youth was found in the injured condition near Bus Stand at Samba during the day. It was learnt that Madan Gopal had fight with some youth and they escaped after attacking him. He said the accused will be arrested after the injured gives statement to police. He was working in the BD Security of Cadila Plant at Samba. Some rivalry was said to be the reason behind the attack. However, police will investigate the matter.
