Factory workers stage protest, block road

KATHUA, Dec 5: The factory workers from Jackson unit, dealing in manufacturing of music related goods at Industrial Estate Kathua held protest demonstration outside the unit on Kathua-Hatli road and disrupted movement of traffic for about two hours today.
The agitating workers were protesting against the removal of a worker, Tarsem Lal by the management of the unit from the job. In the morning, the workers started gathering at the main gate at around 10 am onwards and then started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the management of the factory and demanding that removed worker be reinstated.
A noted trade union leader, Randeep Singh from PDP’s Trade cell was leading the protest. The workers raised barricades and blocked the road. The traffic remained disrupted for about two hours on the road. Later, SHO and some senior officials from the civil administration arrived there. They initiated the dialogue with the agitating employees and the management of the factory. On the intervention of the Administration, the retrenched worker was taken back. The workers then resumed their work at the unit.
