FADA raises concern over non-availability of CNG in J&K

JAMMU, July 27: Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), has expressed its concern over the non-availability of CNG/PNG for automobiles, industrial and domestic usage in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairman of the FADA, Jammu unit, Sanjay Aggarwal in a press statement today said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not having the privilege of alternate fuel CNG in the entire UT of J&K in comparison to the neighbouring states which are enjoying the advantage of cheaper and economical alternative, resulting in huge savings on their day today expenses.
Aggarwal further said that the economy of J&K UT mainly depends upon Tourism, Horticulture and Small Scale Industries for which commercial vehicles being used are compelled to run on diesel or petrol which is much expensive as compared to CNG fuel. He said in all major cities of the country most of the commercial passenger vehicles and goods carriers use CNG as cheaper alternative, thereby saving huge cost on their livelihood.
Referring to some advantages of CNG fuel, FADA Chairman pointed out that CNG is commonly known as green fuel because of its sulphur and lead free character, and reduces harmful emissions and also minimizes effect of global warming. Moreover, it is eco-friendly and is safe and reliable. He said the operational cost of the vehicles running on CNG, as compared to those running on diesel and petrol, is significantly low.
FADA urged the LG’s Administration in J&K to ensure availability of CNG in the Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, PNGRB has already allotted the contract to the Indian Oil Corporation for five districts in J&K.
