SUCHETGARH, Jan 11: District Development Council (DDC) member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has alleged failure of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) scheme in border village Suchetgarh.
In a handout, Tony accused the Government for putting hindrances in implementation of this scheme as neither funds under PMAY are being provided nor the DDC members are allowed to make alternative arrangements for the same.
Citing a specific case, Tony said that he had sanctioned funds under PMAY about a year ago but till date the case of the needy Rashpal Singh, of village Sai Kalan in Suchetgarh continues to be in lurch.
He claimed that engineering wing of Rural Development Department is deliberately creating problems to get graft money for approving the case.
The DDC member appealed Commissioner Secretary of the concerned department to weed out corrupt officials from RDD.
Meanwhile, Tony appealed to the government to immediately announce relief package for the people whose residential houses were damaged during the incessant rains in several parts of J&K.
He said that several residential houses in Boli Chak, Sai Kalan and Village Kolyan of Suchetgarh suffered losses in recent rains.
