Sir,
Ours is a country with a difference in dealing with natural calamities. We don’t need any outside help to deal with situations caused by natural calamities such as, floods, tsunami earthquakes and draughts etc. India in the past has proved its competence and capability in dealing with such sudden awkward situations.
But what we lack in is the efficient, honest and transparent relief distribution system to distribute relief to real victims. People often complain about the misuse of relief material by the concerned officials and local politicians. Non accountability rule the roost every time after natural calamities.
The best way to make the relief distribution fair and transparent is to appoint the most honest, sincere and dedicated officials for the distribution of the relief material (cash and kind). The panchayats, local elected people and the representatives of the flood victims should be actively involved in the relief distribution.
No individual should be allowed to collect donations without proper permission from the concerned authorities. By doing so we can get better results to the satisfaction of the flood victims. It will prove to be an ideal example for the other states to follow..
Yours etc…
