Fair Price Dealers Association calls off strike

JAMMU, July 12: The Fair Price Dealers Association has called off its strike temporarily on the assurance of Director, FCS&CA that the demands of the dealers would be taken up with higher authorities and needful will be done at the earliest.
In a statement issued today, Ajay Gupta, working president of the Association, said that it has been decided by the Cabinet in the year 2014 that all the Ration Dealers should be treated as employees of Department under Rehbar-e-khurak but nothing was done on the ground till date.
Gupta said that since 2017 no loading/unloading/freight and commission (Center Share) is being paid to dealers by the department despite raising the demand for the same by the Association time and again.
He said today they have decided to call off their strike temporarily only on the assurance of the Director, FCS&CA. He also requested the Director, FCS&CA Department that the biometric authentication for free ration distribution may be suspended temporarily as Biometric attendance is suspended in all Government Departments in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory of J&K.
