JAMMU, Apr 29: The Udru play ‘Mein, Tu Aur Amrita’, performed by Shanti Manas Foundation, Delhi, at the Abhinav Theatre, here today came out to be an artistic dramatic representation of ‘Raseedi Ticket’, the acclaimed autobiography of legendary Punjabi writer Amrita Pritam.
Written by Faiyaz Dilbar, the Kashmiri actor, director and writer, now settled in Delhi, the script with a pronounced poetic element was a successful dramatization of the autobiographical core of Amrita’s life in terms of her bold acknowledgement of desires, independence, loneliness of married women and quest for true love.
Directed Dalip Gupta, the well conceived overall production design brought to fore not only the intensity of feelings and emotions of three main characters such as Amrita and her lovers Sahir Ludhyanavi and Imroz but also their unique perspectives and approaches to man-women relationship and concomitant expectations.
The sensitive rendering of Amrita’s enigmatic character in a confessional mode in which she makes candid confessions of her intimate relationship with Sahir Ludhyanavi and Imroz, was very well enacted by Anjali Adda. The actress was especially impressive in sequences with Sahir Ludhyanavi ( Anil Sharma) wherein she wonderfully brought out the tragedy of unrequited love. In the portion with Imorz (Kapil), the selfless companion of Amrita, Anjali Adda, was again brilliant in her portrayal.
Today’s production was marked by appropriate lyrical set, light design as well as background musical score that was noticeable for effective use of Waris Shah’s poetry.
Sponsored by J&K Academy of Art and Cultural Academy, today’s performance was the first show of the play which is slated for series of shows in different parts of the country. Prominent among the audience included Balwant Thakur, Rakesh Kumar Gupta, IAS, Commissioner Forest, Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, Chairman J&K Board of Secondary Education and Dr Aziz Hazani, Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy.
