Fake currency racket busted, 3 held

JAMMU, Aug 25: Gandhi Nagar police has smashed fake currency racket with the arrest of three persons.
As per police sources, yesterday a complaint was lodged by Dr Amir Qazi, son of Qazi Jalal-ud-Din, a resident of Government Estate Quarters with Gandhi Nagar Police Station stating he wanted to sell his i-Phone X to a person, whom he met through OLX.
“On August 22, I went to Gole Market to meet the buyer, who along with his two associates took my phone and gave me Rs 75,000, which later turned out to be fake currency. The buyer along with his associates fled from the spot in a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK02BT-6377”, the complainant added.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 192/18 under Section 420 and 489-B RPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team of officers and officials of Police Station Gandhi Nagar was constituted to arrest the accused.
The team arrested three persons, who during sustained questioning confessed their involvement in the commission of crime.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rohit Kumar, son of Satya Pal, Sahil Kumar, son of Satya Pal and Gharu Ram, son of Romesh Lal, all residents of Kheri in Tehsil Bishnah.
On their disclosure, police recovered one laptop, printer, papers, purchased i-phone by giving fake currency to the complainant and fake currency worth Rs 82,000. The car with fake registration number used by the accused in the commission of crime was also recovered and seized.

Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat smashed the fake currency racket and arrested the accused under the supervision of Incharge SDPO South Davinder Singh, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
