Fake PRC racket busted, one arrested

JAMMU, June 1: Police today busted a racket involved in preparing fake Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) with the arrest of one person from Pounichack area, falling under the jurisdiction of Domana Police station.
“On specific information, police party led by SHO Arvind Sambyal and SI Sunil Sharma laid a trap near Pounichack and arrested a person identified as Gurmeet Singh, son of Ujjagar singh of Simbal Morh, RS Pura,” SDPO Domana Sandeep Mehta said.
During checking, police recovered 40 blank forms of PRC and 6 fake stamps of various Revenue Officials including, Assistant Commissioner (G) Jammu, Naib Tehsildar and Tehsildar Samba from his possession, he added.
The accused used to prepare fake PRCs, category certificates, married and unmarried certificates by using forged and fake stamps of various senior officers of Revenue Department and later sell them to people in lieu of money, the SDPO said.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Domana and further investigation into the case are going on.
