Familiarize students about cultural ethos: Karra to teachers

SRINAGAR, June 7: Stressing the need for providing quality education to the students enabling them to face the challenges in the competitive arena, Member Parliament, Lok Sabha Tariq Hameed Karra today asked the teaching community to make efforts to familiarize the students about the cultural ethos and traditions of the State.
He was speaking at one-day teachers’ conference organized by Educational Trust Kashmir at Zadibal.
Teachers from various educationals institutions, renowned educationist of Valley, students and prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
Mr. Karra complimented the management of the Trust and School for organizing teachers’ conference, saying that such conferences go a long way in discussing various aspects relating to field. He urged upon the management of the Trust for opening of Skill Development Centres, saying that trained youth from these centres would earn their living with dignity.
Calling for coordinated efforts to keep the youth away from drug abuse, the Member Parliament underscored the need for taking such steps that they do not indulge in drug abuse.
Mr. Karra donated a Scorpio for the use of the Trust out of his MPLAD. He also announced that 10 computers would also be provided in the Trust run educational institutions.
The Chairman of the Trust Zaffar Ali presented an overview of the curriculum and extra-curriculum activities of the Trust, saying that the Trust was established in 1968 and running 20 schools on the name of Trust Imamia Public School in which over 5000 students are being provided education. He further said that out of total enrolled students 500 poor and needy candidates are also getting free education in these schools. The Trust is also extending financial assistance to the poor people, he maintained.
