SRINAGAR, Nov 23: A family in Srinagar today alleged misleading reports provided to them by a private diagnostic centre after their patient underwent a 4D neck scan.
The matter has been viewed seriously by the administration which has now ordered a probe to ascertain the facts.
The family in this regard has also written to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir seeking action against the private diagnostic centre which provided them with the reports of the test that were in total contrast to what the reports of the same test carried out at SKIMS Soura revealed.
Yaseen Bhat who is the husband of the patient said that his wife underwent the test after they went to SKIMS where she was being treated for kidney stones.
He said that as a part of the treatment, surgery was conducted on her and a stone was taken out. At the same time, he said, a parathyroid hormone test was also carried out which then revealed that her PTH was high.
He was then told by the doctors that there is a problem in her parathyroid gland and need necessary surgery. As per doctors at SKIMS, the patient had issues with both the sides of the parathyroid glands and needed surgery for which they were given a proper date as well.
After the advice from the doctors, the family went to cross-check and decided to go for a 4-D scan at a private diagnostic centre in Karan Nagar, Srinagar.
To the utter surprise of the family, the reports of the scan showed everything normal, something that was in total contrast to the reports they had from SKIMS.
The family then contacted the doctors at SKIMS who told them that the reports from SKIMS are more reliable. The surgery, as per the family, was later conducted and two enlarged parathyroid glands were removed-as was shown by the SKIMS reports.
The family members have alleged that the diagnostic centre was putting the lives of the patients at risk while urging the authorities to act against such elements.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner has directed the DHSK to inquire about the matter within 15 days. The DHSK has also formed a committee to investigate the matter.
