MENDHAR, Jan 4: The family members of 19-year-old woman hailing from Galuta area of Mendhar have blamed doctors for her death after she delivered a male baby yesterday.
Identified as Farzana Kouser, wife of Ibrat Hussain this woman was brought to Sub District Hospital Mendhar by the family members on late Saturday evening after labour pains.  The woman came herself walking to the hospital along with other members. She was operated upon by the doctors on Sunday morning. She delivered male baby and her condition went on deteriorating due to excessive bleeding.
The family members urged the Medical staff to put extra efforts to control bleeding but they failed. The lady was seen sinking again and again due to bleeding. The CMO Poonch, Dr Mumtaz Choudhary  by chance paid visit to the SDH Mendhar and the family also requested him to intervene. The woman was then referred to District Hospital Rajouri. She was given one unit of blood and also placed on ventilator due to critical condition and then referred to GMC Jammu but she died on the way.
The family members alleged that Farzana died due to sheer negligence on the part of doctors and other medical staff. Due to wrong cut in a vein, the bleeding could not be  controlled by the doctors at Mendhar hospital. They said the Hospital authorities charged Rs 1200 and Rs 1000 as ambulance charges from them. They urged upon the Health Minister Ch Lal Singh to order inquiry by a team of doctors from Jammu and take action against the staff for negligence.  Director Health Services Jammu, Dr B S Pathania has however, assured the family to hold an inquiry into the matter.
