JAMMU, May 14: People and relatives of a youth who was found murdered yesterday at Dogra Hall blocked Jammu-Pathankote National Highway near Shastri Nagar demanding arrest of the culprits behind the murder. However, five persons were detained for questioning by the police on suspicious grounds.
An irate mob along with the dead body of the deceased youth today disrupted the vehicular movement for around one hour on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway, alleging involvement of deceased’s friend including Charlie of Dogra Hall in the murder of the youth.
The relatives and the people demanding arrest of the accused blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway leading to long traffic snarls.
One of the relatives while talking to Excelsior told that  25-year-old Narinder Singh, son of Jagbir Singh, a resident of Gandhi Nagar was murdered by his friends including Charlie of Dogra Hall.
“We demand immediate arrest of the culprits behind the death of the youth and strict punishment to them”, he maintained.
On getting information, senior police officials including SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SHO Gandhi Nagar police station Manzoor Ahmed Kohli rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors assuring them immediate arrest of the culprits.
SDPO assured the family members that fair and partial probe will be conducted in the case and all the updates will be informed to them (family) timely.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored.
As per police sources, five persons including Charlie of Dogra Hall were detained for questioning by the police on the CCTV footage available with the police in whom deceased youth along with four others were seen partying.
A case under Section 302 RPC stands registered at Pacca Danga police station in this regard and investigation is going on.
