Family of victims deny rumours on Sopore attack: IGP

Srinagar, June 14: The Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, today said that family members of the two persons killed in Sopore militant attack denied the rumours propagated by a section of social media that the two were killed in Police firing.
“All the family members of both the killed were called and they showed faith in Jammu and Kashmir Police. They denied all the rumours propagated by various Tanzims and ANEs. Family members denied meeting any legal or non state functionary in the UT. They expressed grief over various false propaganda spread by Pakistan based agencies”, he said.
Earlier, a report published by in a web portal blamed Police for killing the two civilians during a militant attack on Police yesterday. The report quoted relatives of the victims and an eye witness for “opening fire at the civilians”.
The report also quoting one of the relative of victim Manzoor saying that he wants justice. “The government should clarify how he was killed and under what circumstances.”
