The protesting family members said some days back they received a call from the in-laws of their daughter wherein they were informed that “something has happened to their daughter”. But, when they approached the hospital they found the body of their daughter lying on a stretcher, they said. “Why did they hide the information about her death from us? Why was there a rope mark on her neck?” a protesting family member asked.
“The rope mark suggested something was wrong. If she had hanged herself why didn’t they convey it to us. They even hid it in the hospital. Why did not a single person from her in-laws accompany us when we took her body for postmortem. All this points towards her murder,” a relative said, adding this prompted us to approach police who are investigating the matter.
According to the family members, the victim was married to Abid Yousuf Najar, a resident of Naikbangh Nowgam in Srinagar.
The family members said the cuts and marks on her neck bear witness to the type of torture she had gone through. “Just look at her body, it’s filled with torture marks. Only a beast can do that. We want justice and demand authorities to punish him so that others think twice before committing such inhumane act”, one of the family members said.
Meanwhile, Police has registered a case against the suspect on the complaint of the victim Family and arrested the accused.
