Farmers in J&K deserve urgent Govt attention: Bhim

JAMMU, Jan 30: Prof. Bhim Singh urged the President of India to take urgent measures to provide reasonable, sufficient and equitable relief to the farmers who have lost their crop in Jammu region and orchards in Kashmir.
Prof. Bhim Singh assured the representatives of the farmers and the unemployed youth who participated in a meeting at NPP Office here that the Panthers Party will knock the doors of the Supreme Court if reasonable compensation for the loss of crop and the orchards is not released in favour of the farmers and the owners of the orchards in Kashmir.
The representatives of the farmers, unemployed youth and others demanded immediate compensation for the loss of their crop, fruits and urged the Government to open employment for the unemployed youth and fill thousands of vacancies in Jammu & Kashmir which have been caused because the State Government under President’s rule has shut all employment and jobs to the educated, unemployed and technically qualified youth in J&K.
Prof. Bhim Singh assured that this issue will be brought before the Working Committee of NPP tomorrow and a memorandum will be prepared for the President of India as Jammu & Kashmir is under President’s rule.
Prof. Bhim Singh also urged the President to withdraw Central ordinance and restore the Statehood status to Jammu & Kashmir so that delimitation is held at the earliest and fresh elections are conducted so that democracy with rule of law will return. Panthers Party demanded immediate release of all political prisoners under PSA as PSA is no more a valid law in the Constitution.
Those who were present in the meeting included Anita Thakur, general secretary, Shanker Chib, Gagan Pratap Singh, State secretaries, Shanker Dass, Ex-Sarpanch, Ravinder Jamwal, provincial general secretary, Anil Rakwal, provincial general secretary Young Panthers, R.P. Sharma, national political secretary, S. Amandeep Singh, district president Jammu Rural Young Panthers, Pawan Sodhi and others.
