JAMMU, Mar 24: The farmers of International Indo-Pak Border areas are in upbeat mood after getting the better results of Zeroline cultivation as the wheat crop grown in the fields near Zero Line after a gap of 20 years is all set for harvesting in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district .
After two decades the border farmers cultivated their fields at forward areas of Zero Line adjoining the Pakistan border last year and they are all set to harvest the first crop within days.
This was possible after declaration of ceasefire on International Border as part of effective foreign policy of Modi Government.
Under the tight security cover of Border Security Force (BSF), the Jammu and Kashmir Government and Agriculture Production Department and Farmer Welfare Department led by its Principal Secretary to Government, Naveen Kumar Choudhary and Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, Vijay Upadhaya decided on the Direction of LG Manoj Sinha to cultivate nearly 145 Acres of barren land on Forward Line and farmers were given the full support to cultivate the land with free machinery, seed, fertilizer etc.
The efforts put on collectively to cultivate the land after 20 years gave better results and bumper crop of wheat is ready to harvest within days said Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer , Raman Kumar Gupta . He said that there was lot of threat and risk involved due to heavy firing by Pakistan in this area and big chunk of land was lying barren and non cultivated .
Now 141 acres of land of border village Chack Chaga, Chandwan, and Chandrey Chack was cultivated with the hardworking of farmers the wheat crop is ready and farmers are very happy. The farmers were given subsidized machinery including the tractors, Routawitter , Chappers, Spray pump etc so that they may not face any problem to cultivate their fields in future.
The Government has proposal to give modern machinery to border famers on subsidized rates to cultivate remaining land on Forward Line.
The border farmers are very happy and told that after a long gap of 20 years have cultivated their land after declaration of ceasefire on International Border. If the situation becomes better they will cultivate the remaining land on Zero Line as the Pakistan farmers are cultivating it up to Zero Line.
