Farmers, orchardists must be compensated: Mir

JAMMU, Apr 21: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir has expressed serious concern over the loss of crops and orchards caused due to heavy rains and hailstorm in recent days in Kashmir valley.
He said farmers and orchardists are fully dependent on their production. Due to the losses they won’t be able to supply anything like fruits, wheat, rice, etc within or outside State and that will certainly be quite disturbing for them and those people, who are linked with this trade, by one way or the other.
Mir impressed upon the State Government to provide full compensation to orchardists and farmers in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, who have suffered losses. He also asked the Government to go for an assessment of losses and provide compensation to affected farmers and orchardists, as per the estimate of loss, they have suffered.
