KATHUA, May 10: Farmers of different villages gathered at Tehsil office Marheen and held a protest against State Government as well as Central Government. Farmer raised anti Government slogans and  demanded that compensation  be given to them for damaged crops.
The protest was held under the supervision of District secretary of National Conference Dharampal Kunadal and State Kissan Neta Shivdev Singh. They said that this Government before coming in power said that they are representative of general public but after coming to power they forgot farmers as well as general public.
They said that from last two years the crops were damaged due to unfavourable weather conditions. If crops were sown then there was no assurance that it was sown properly.
They said farmers took the loan from the banks and thought they will repay the same after selling his crop. But due to less production they  failed to do so. Bank employee harassed them and they are left with no option but to commit suicide.
Farmers also gave the memorandum addressed to Divisional commissioner to Tehsildar Jitender Singh regarding their demands.
