SAMBA, Dec 12: The farmers of border area district -Samba gathered at Tehsil office, Ramgarh under banner of Border Kissan Union (BKU), Ramgarh-Samba today and submitted a memorandum through tehsil and district administration to Lt Governor against heavy scheduled and un-scheduled power cuts by the PDD.
The farmers expressed their great resentment and stated that in spite of any load on grid stations or receiving station, the poor electric supply has ruined the entire system of human survival.
Eight hours of schedule cut daily has been fixed permanently by the authorities and the same is extended to more hours together resulting the electricity system has utterly failed in many manners, they added.
They said there is neither timing nor sufficient supply of electricity which has created mess in the domestic life, child education, crop irrigation, health care in hospitals, official on lining system in all offices and many more needs likewise of general mass. In addition to it, the bill charging has been hiked unbearable most probably of agricultural pump sets which are at present very rare in use till June month when Kharif season starts in our area.
The farmers appealed the Lt Governor to look into matter and issue directives to concerned officers of PDD to do away with long duration power cuts and ensure better power supply so that the farmers don’t suffer. They demanded issuing of fresh notification in this regard to avoid the further protests by general masses.
The farmers also invited the attention of Government towards previous grievances raised by them which have not also been redressed till date. These include- waiving off or exempt agricultural pump sets from charging tariff, ownership rights on allotted land under Section 3 of AR Act 1976, inclusion of left out villages like Chak Slarian, Karalian, Bane Chak, Koulpur etc left out from LAC benefits, completion of road from Ramgarh to SM Pur, delay in payments of rent to allottees against acquired land on border by belt forces, clearing of DP pending claim files and crop damaged by heavy rains and storm last year.
The participants includes BKU president, Mohan Singh Bhatti, Ravinder Choudhary, Arjan Singh, Sarpanch, Jasbir Singh, Naib Sarpanch, Manjeet Singh, Balbir Singh, Anil Choudhary, Ram Sharma, Paul Singh, Gurcharan Singh ,Sunny Choudhary, Rashpal Singh, Subash Chandar and others.
