Farooq Abdullah not hopeful of Parliament passing Telangana Bill

NEW DELHI: Union Minister Farooq Abdullah today said Telangana Bill, slated to be discussed in the Lok Sabha, will not be passed.
Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House soon after the Lok Sabha was adjourned over the issue for 30 minutes, the National Conference chief said, ”I don’t think it will be passed”.
On a poser for Rajiv Gandhi’s killers death penalty being converted into life sentence, the minister said it was good as the entire civilised world does not have death penalty anymore.
On the death penalty of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, he said the Government did not tell him anything and had he been told about it, he would have opposed it. ”It was absolutely wrong,” he said adding that India should do away with death sentence. (AGENCIES)
