SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 02: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today called for mobilizing extraordinary efforts and continuous innovations in work execution to realize the dream of round the clock uninterrupted power supply in the State.
Dr. Singh, who is also Minister for Power Development, said this while chairing a meeting to review the power situation in Valley. He said that the Department has done wonderful work during the recent snowfall and lauded the officers and officials of the Department for restoring electric power supply within a shortest possible time.
Commissioner Secretary PDD, Chief Engineer PDD, Senior officers of the Department and other concerned attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Singh reviewed the present position of power supply and pace of work on various ongoing PDD projects. He was informed that any damaged electric transformer in Srinagar city is replaced within 24 hours and for other regions it is being done within a week’s time.
The Minister said that the Department needs to gear up to meet people’s expectations. He said that there is no shortage of funds and called for time bound completion of development projects.
While reviewing various measures to strengthen distribution network, he said that government is focused on reducing transmission and distribution losses, better recovery of bills and ultimately interrupted supply of power.
He directed to re-examine all feeders and adding of more feeders into the system wherever it is necessary to minimize snapping of high-voltage power lines.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that uninterrupted power supply to hospitals and PHE water supply schemes should be further strengthened so that these services are ensured effectively. He also directed the officers to strictly adhere to power schedule so as to provide maximum benefit to people.
He asked the officials to install high mast street lights at all the district headquarters and vintage street lights on Boulevard road and at various Shrines.
