Farooq announces Rs 20 lakh for upgradation of health sector in Ganderbal

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: The Vigilance and Monitoring Committee of National Rural Health Mission for District Ganderbal held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah today at SKICC.
Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad Mir, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Itrat Hussain, Chief Medical Officer, Ganderbal, Dr. Mohmooda Kar, and other officers of the district administration were present in the meeting.
The meeting was convened to review the achievements and measures for effective implementation of NRHM scheme besides, human resource and improvement in health care system in the district.
Mr. Abdullah was appraised about the various initiatives taken for providing better health care facilities in the district. He was also appraised about the difficulties being faced due to inadequate infrastructure, human resources and other necessary medical equipments in the district.
Union Minister, while addressing the meeting, urged upon the district administration and officers of health authorities for strict implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and provide best health care facilities to the community. He stressed upon them to involve the concerned MLAs while formulating any plan regarding improving health sector and hold the timely meetings in this regard.
He stressed upon officers to improve the work culture and perform their duties with dedication and honesty.
Dr Abdullah asked the district administration to avail the services of staff nurses and other paramedical staff fully and do not let people suffer especially on account of health care facilities. He urged upon the executing agencies to speed up the peace of work on the infrastructure being constructed for the health sector.
On the occasion, Union Minister announced Rs 20 lakh from his MPLAD funds for the upgradation of health care infrastructure in the Ganderbal and assured them that he would take up the issues regarding the augmentation of healthcare facilities besides, release of necessary funds for the construction of healthcare infrastructure with the Union Ministry for Health.
On the occasion CMO Ganderbal gave detailed overview of health sector of district through a Power Point presentation.
