Speaking with Excelsior after an event at the SKICC, Dr Abdullah said that J&K has been witnessing such tragedies for years, stressing that the killing of innocent people is pointless.
He also emphasized that “Kashmir will never become Pakistan,” noting that futile attempts to achieve this goal have been made since 1947 and continue to this day.

“What happened in Gagangeer last night is deeply unfortunate. We have been seeing such tragedies for years, with innocent lives lost. These people came here to earn their livelihood, to make both ends meet under difficult conditions-what was their fault?” he asked.
While not naming Pakistan, Dr. Farooq emphasized that those responsible for sending these killers must stop, and that the people of Kashmir should be allowed to rise out of poverty and work in peace.
“They should allow Kashmiris to live in peace and see progress. If these actions continue, they will have far-reaching and lasting consequences, ” he said.
Abdullah asserted that the solution is clear, that is, Pakistan must stop sending terrorists, which, he said, is a prerequisite for improving relations with India.
He also warned that the killers would soon face repercussions.
“If they don’t stop, relations will never improve. To the families who have lost their loved ones, I express my deepest sympathy and assure them that these killers will soon be brought to justice,” he said.
Later, speaking to the media at his residence, Dr. Farooq criticized those who are sent to J&K to “kill innocent people”, saying that they aim to “make Kashmir Pakistan”-a goal, he emphasized, that will never be achieved.
“These monsters killed these labourers, including a doctor. What do they hope to achieve by this? Do they think it will create Pakistan here? It’s been happening for years-they keep coming-but we want to put an end to it. People want to see an end to these hardships,” he stated.
Stressing that Kashmir will never become Pakistan, Abdullah called on Pakistan’s rulers to stop terrorism in Kashmir and let people live in peace.
“Kashmir will not become Pakistan. Please let us live with dignity, let us progress. How long will they continue to impose these hardships and make people suffer?” he asked.
The NC chief also pointed out that Pakistan has been trying this since 1947 with the tribal invasion, killing innocents. “Did that create Pakistan here? If it hasn’t happened in 75 years, how is it going to happen now?”
He emphasized that the people of J&K want to move beyond these hardships, end poverty and address unemployment.
“For God’s sake, look at your own country, work for its progress, and leave us alone. We want to escape these hardships, we want to end poverty and unemployment.”
Speaking on the impact of the Gagangeer attack, the NC president said it will deeply affect the people of J&K. “How can we progress if this continues? It’s time for them to stop; otherwise, the consequences will be far-reaching.”
Regarding India’s response to the attack, Abdullah said that Delhi knows how to respond. “But talks won’t happen under these circumstances-they cannot keep killing our people like this,” he added.
