SRINAGAR, Apr 3: Union Minister and ruling National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah today cautioned the people of J&K against political forces who pursue “divisive and communal agendas” to weaken the secular fabric of the State.
“I caution the people against those political forces that pursue divisive and communal agendas to weaken the secular fabric of State,” Abdullah said at a function organised to welcome Rafiq Kochak, son of Ghulam Rasool Kochak, former MP and contemporary of party founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
Abdullah said his party has always stood strongly against these elements and foiled their repeated attempts to destabilise the State and create impediments to peace, harmony and development.
“The people of J&K will foil the machinations of communal forces and their proxies in the State by staying united and standing resolutely in defence of the State’s integrity and dignity,” he said.
Welcoming Rafiq into the party fold, Abdullah lauded the role of his father saying that his sacrifices in the course of serving the people of this State would be remembered for all times to come.
He said Kochak was a veteran leader who always treated the interests of the people as his topmost priority.
Meanwhile, NC MLC Vijay Bakaya said Dr Farooq Abdullah will address Migrant Cell meeting at Bohri on April 6.
