JAMMU, Jan 14: To discuss the increasing drug problem, several delegations met with Dr Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), here today.
A delegation from International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Jammu, led by Dr Suminder Singh and Swaran Choudhary, along with Malu Sharma, Head of Media and Communication, met Dr Abdullah to discuss the increasing drug problem. The delegation proposed collaborative initiatives to create a stronger, drug-free society.
Dr Abdullah expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in drug abuse across the Union Territory and emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to address this growing menace and safeguard the future of the youth.
He stressed that drug addiction is not just a personal issue but a societal challenge that requires a multi-pronged strategy involving awareness campaigns, preventive measures, and robust rehabilitation programs.
Another delegation representing the Labana community, headed by its president Gurjyot Singh, also called on Dr Abdullah.
They apprised him of various issues affecting their community and sought his intervention.
Dr Abdullah assured them of his support and emphasized the need for inclusive development and equitable opportunities for all communities.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC, joined the discussion and underscored the necessity of establishing rehabilitation centers at district levels across Jammu and Kashmir.
