6 Corona deaths in J&K, 572 fresh cases
4 from CMO, DC, SDM offices infected

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Former Chief Ministers and National Conference leaders-Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah-today went into week-long self-quarantine after they came in contact with a COVID positive person while six persons died of virus in Jammu and Kashmir and 572 tested positive.
Omar tweeted: “My father & I have been in contact with a person who was in turn staying with a relative who tested COVID positive. Based on medical advice, we will be self-isolating for a week before getting a precautionary COVID test”.
In Jammu, former Director Health Services Dr Jasbir Singh and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar Dr Ravinder Manhas tested positive for COVID-19.
Two persons tested positive in the CMO office Jammu and one each at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and SDM Office Janipura, three at Science College, two each Raghunath Bazaar and Patta Bohri Chowk, seven at Domana, three Barnai and one each at Pouni Chak, Shahidhi Chowk and Chowk Chabutra. Five persons of a family tested positive for the virus at Janipura and 11 persons at Trikuta Nagar.
Among three Corona fatalities in Jammu region, one each was reported from Samba, Udhampur and Kathua districts while no death was recorded in Jammu district.
A 55-year-old woman hailing from village Karalian in Ramgarh area of Samba district, who was suffering from multiple ailments and had tested positive for COVID-19, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu after remaining admitted in the hospital for five days.
A 66-year-old woman from Housing Colony Udhampur, who was under treatment at ASCOMS Sidhra for virus and some other problems, died in the hospital where she was admitted five days back.
A 48-year-old man from village Bhogachak in Kathua district died in the GMC Kathua just a day after his admission. He was co-morbid and positive for the virus.
And Kashmir today reported three more COVID-19 related deaths, taking toll in Jammu and Kashmir past 1600 mark while Valley reported 381 fresh COVID cases taking the number of such cases in J&K to 103,581.
The victims include a 75-year-old woman from Noorbagh Baramulla, a 70-year-old from Kokernag Anantnag and a 62-year-old woman from Sumblar Bandipora.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1063.
Srinagar district with 399 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 158, Budgam 97, Pulwama 85, Kupwara 78, Anantnag 76, Kulgam 48, Bandipora 49, Shopian 36 and Ganderbal 37.
Kashmir today reported 381 fresh COVID cases.
Those who tested positive today include four employees of State Bank of India Branch Residency Road Srinagar including the Manager. The operations of the bank were suspending today and a medical team was sent to bank and tests of all those employees who were contacts of these positive cases was conducted but all 25 employees tested negative. The bank will be sanitized first before the operations are resumed.
Those who tested positive today include 147 from Srinagar, 35 Baramulla, 25 Budgam, 17 Pulwama, 106 Kupwara, 6 Anantnag, 10 Bandipora, 39 Ganderbal, 4 Kulgam and 1 from Shopian.
Among 191 Corona positive cases reported in the Jammu region today, 95 were from Jammu district, 91 of whom were locals and four travelers.
Udhampur district reported 28 cases, Doda 15, Kishtwar 13, Kathua 12, Samba 10, Reasi 8, Rajouri 6, Poonch 3 and Ramban 1.
At the same time, 216 persons recovered from the virus today including 92 in Jammu district followed by 38 Kishtwar, 33 Udhampur, 15 Doda, 14 Kathua, 10 each Rajouri and Kishtwar and four in Poonch district. Reasi and Samba districts didn’t report any recoveries.
Jammu region now has 41061 Corona cases. Of them, 1660 were active positives while 38860 have recovered from the virus and there have been 541 casualties.
Among 541 casualties in Jammu region, Jammu district accounted for highest 283 followed by 50 Doda, 48 Rajouri, 36 Udhampur, 34 Kathua, 26 Samba, 22 Poonch, 18 Ramban, 16 Kishtwar and eight in Reasi district.
The total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached 62,520 including 57,532 recoveries and 1,063 deaths.
The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,585 including 3,925 from Kashmir division..
With 568 more recoveries, the tally recovered patients in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 96,392, which is 93.05 percent of the total cases.
