SRINAGAR, Mar 17: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah, and vice president, Omar Abdullah today paid glowing tributes to party’s veteran leader, former Speaker, Wali Mohammad Itoo on his 27th death anniversary.
While paying tributes to Late Itoo, Dr Farooq said, “A true friend of people who sacrificed his life for them and upheld high principles of democracy, human dignity and public cause. He worked selflessly for the benefit and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and contributed for the growth and development of democratic institutions. On the death anniversary observance, I pay my glowing tributes to him and pray to Almighty to elevate his stations in Jannat.”
Party vice president, while paying tributes to Itoo Sahib said, “The jinxed fate of our region snatched a brilliant administrator, true democrat and an astute politician from us 27 years ago. His good work for the far-flung areas of South Kashmir in particular Noorabad constituency is still remembered and acknowledged by all. His name has become synonymous with development and socio-political emancipation of downtrodden masses. On his death anniversary, I remember his sacrifice with utmost veneration. I pray to Almighty to bestow him with highest stations in Jannat,” he said.
