SRINAGAR, Sept 8: National Conference today observed 34th death anniversary of NC founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and working President Omar Abdullah this morning visited Sheikh Sahab’s mausoleum at Naseem Bagh and offered Fateha for the departed leader.
In view of the prevailing situation in Valley, function began with the recitation of Holy Quran, Fatheh Khawani and ended with floral tributes at the Mazaar.
Among others who visited the Mazaar included JKNC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, senior leaders Ab Rahim Rather, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzaan, Mohd Akbar Lone, Mian Altaf, Nazir Gurezi, Shareifuddin Shariq, Mir Saifullah, Irfan Shah, Mohammad Syed Akhoon, Sakina Itoo, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, legislators Ali Mohammad Dar, Ab Majeed Larmi, Dr Bashir Veeri, Showkat Ganaie, Ishfaq Jabbar, Qaisar Lone, District Presidents Peer Afaq, Javed Dar, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Block Presidents and other office bearers of parent as well as party’s youth wing.
Later, Ali Mohammad Sagar addressed a simple function at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subah where he impressed upon party workers to work towards making Sher-e-Kashmir’s dream of making Kashmir an abode of communal amity and harmony a reality.
He referred to the great sacrifice and service rendered by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah throughout his life for empowerment of people, inclusive development of the State, revolutionary land to Tiller Act, social and educational reforms and strengthening of communal harmony and traditional brotherhood between various sections of the society.
Others also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various facets of the late leader’s life.
