JAMMU, Mar 22:  As PDP and BJP geared up to revive their coalition Government after over two and half months of Governor’s Rule in the State, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah raised question mark over continuation of the Government saying though it was good that both parties were again coming together to form the Government “let us see what happens after one year’’.
Speaking to reporters after ‘air show’ in Jammu, Dr Abdullah said the National Conference had been asking the two previous coalition partners (PDP and BJP) to come forward and form the Government again to end “political uncertainty’’ prevailing in the State and “it was good that they both were coming together to form the Government as per the indications available’’.
However, he took a jibe at the PDP and BJP saying his party would keenly look as to what happens to the Government after one year.
“Let us see what happens after one year,’’ he remarked in response to a question that the PDP-BJP Government was on the cards after the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti.
Farooq said the National Conference now had been hearing for long time that formation of the PDP-BJP Government was on the cards.
“We want the new Government to be in place as political uncertainty was not good for the people,’’ he added and hoped the two parties would now deliver to the people if they formed the Government in the State.
Replying to another question on terror attack at Brussels, Belgium, the National Conference president said the world must come together and form united front to finish off the terrorism.
“The terrorism was greatest threat to the world. Americans had realized this after 9/11 (World Trade Centre and other attacks). Now whole of the world is realizing, the latest being the Belgium. We all are shaken.
“We had told the world that terrorism will affect you but they didn’t believe us. Today, our words on terrorism must be vibrating in their (the world leaders) brain. They didn’t believe us then but have now realized how serious is the threat of terrorism to the world,’’ Farooq Abdullah said.
Asserting that terrorism has no religion and no feet, he said it has only advantage to pick up the target and blow it.
“Entire world now must come together and form united front to finish off the terrorism,’’ he added.
In response to a question, Farooq said if the terrorism had to be finished off by the world, all terrorist groups have to be fought without any discrimination.
Farooq Abdullah described as “good step’’ the decision to open temples in Vrindhavan in Uttar Pradesh for the women including widows on the occasion of Holi and said all temples in the country must be opened for the women.
“The women are part of this nation. All temples must be opened to them. India is moving forward. This is very positive sign. We must open all temples for the women. We are proud of them (the women),’’ the NC president said.
Replying to another question on reported statement by Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav that only those countries play cricket, which were slaves of Britishers, Farooq rubbished the statement saying this was not the case as more and more nations have started playing the game, which was becoming popular day-by-day.
Farooq, who was himself Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president, described cricket as very good game, which was liked by millions of fans all over the world.
“We are proud of cricket,’’ he observed.
