SRINAGAR, Oct 6: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that “it is a great thing” that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is willing to join the Congress-NC Alliance to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from gaining power in Jammu and Kashmir.

Responding to a statement by a PDP leader about the party’s readiness to join the NC-Congress alliance, Abdullah said: “Congratulations to them. This is a great thing. We are all on the same track. We need to end hatred and keep Jammu and Kashmir united.”
He expressed confidence that the Congress-NC alliance will secure a majority in the upcoming Assembly elections.
However, Abdullah refrained from commenting on the Exit Polls, saying that the final results on October 8, the day of the vote count, would reveal the outcome.
“On October 8, the results will be in front of you. We will open the boxes and ascertain everyone’s standing. But I am confident that the Congress-NC alliance will form the Government with a majority,” he said.
