MUMBAI: Noted designer Archana Kocchar will be displaying her collection at a fashion show here today as a mark to pay tribute to the victims of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The show is a part of ‘Global Peace Initiative’ taken by Welingkar Institute and is conceptualised by private firm Business of Ideas, to commemorate the 26/11 attacks and uplifting the belief of world peace.
“We have put together a fashion show spreading the message of peace along with 40 celebrities from television and Bollywood. We are presenting the collection made of ‘Ahimsa Silk’ also know as ‘Peace Silk’. It was created without killing a single silk worm and we thought that this was a perfect occasion to showcase this fabric,” Archana told PTI.
“By saving each silkworm in this process, they are set free as moths and eventually turn into butterflies. This transformation has inspired me to incorporate hundreds of tiny butterflies’ or moth wings which are then binded together in the form of intricate textural embroidery,” she said.
“The collection is a fusion of Indian and contemporary silhouettes where East meets the West,” she said.
“The range is an amalgamation of global silhouettes with ethnic embroideries and the colour flows into the new patterns of beige and ivory offset with rose gold embellishment.”
Celebrities like Abhishek Kapoor, Rohit Khandelwal, Gautam Rode, Manish Paul, Gaurav Gera, Rohit Roy, Jay Soni and others will take part in the show.
“We have 40 well known faces from television and Bollywood like Manish Paul, Mr World Rohit Khandelwal, Ravi Dubey, Abhishek Kapoor, Adaa khan, Aditi Mittal, Devoleena Bhattacharjee and many more walking for us,” Archana said. (AGENCIES)
