JAMMU, Aug 5: DDC Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan today directed the concerned stakeholders to fast-track the ongoing developmental works in the District so that the same should be dedicated to people as soon as possible.
He gave these directions while chairing a meeting of Sarpanches of Bhalwal Block. DPO Suniana, ACD Jammu Ashok Choudhary and BDC Chairman Kuldeep Raj were also present.
This meeting was the part of initiatives taken by the DDC Chairman Jammu to plug in gaps with regard to communication between the Panchayat heads and the administration as the same is the key to generate synergy between the both to carry development in the way that the aspirations of the people can be satiated fully.
The meeting which was attended by all the Sarpanches held threadbare discussions on strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions, best possible use of CAPEX Budget, success of Back to Village programme and making the tendering process fast and transparent.
The Sarpanches assured wholehearted support in ushering in a new dawn of development in their area of jurisdiction. Citing delays in works, they suggested stipulating a ceiling on tender works. It was said that this will stop inadvertent delays in development works as contractors will focus on their works unlike the present case when ongoing development works remain pending and the contractors move on to start new works.
The DDC Chairman while giving a serious thought to the issue said that the contractors who will leave the work midway after getting tenders should be black-listed. He assured that he will resolve this issue on priority and no development work will be delayed due to this problem.
Bharat Bhushan said that the Government has no paucity of funds as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Government at the Centre is quite liberal in case of J&K and therefore, it is important that funds should be utilized judicially and the works be completed on time.
