JAMMU, Apr 1: A 12-day old female baby was abandoned late last night by her father here in a children’s ward in Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital.
According to the reports, a woman identified as Alwar wife of Mohd Asrar, resident of Uttar Pradesh, gave birth to a female baby here at SMGS Hospital, about 12 days back and the woman died after some time due to some complications, as it was a premature birth.
The baby was later shifted to Ward no 5, where her father was taking care of her but last night the father of the baby left the hospital without telling anything to anybody. When he did not came back, the hospital staff informed the police and shifted the baby to NICU, where she is under doctors’ observation.
A case under 317 RPC has been registered in this connection at City police station and efforts were on to nab the absconding father.
