KATHUA, Nov 20: In another tragic road accident that took place today at Lakhanpur, a father and his daughter were crushed to death by a speeding truck.
As per police reports, a motorcycle bearing registration number PB06AM-1596 was on its way to Lakhanpur from Pathankot when a speedy truck bearing registration number HR38AE-5019 hit it from rear side at new toll plaza, Lakhanpur, near Maharaja Gulab Singh’s statue.
After the collision, the motorcycle rider and his minor daughter fell down and the truck crushed them to death. The deceased were identified as Surjeet Kumar (34) son of Mangal Das, resident of Chaba Chack (Hiranagar) and his 12 year daughter, whose name was yet to be known.
Both the dead bodies were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua for medico-legal formalities while a case in this connection was registered at Lakhanpur Police Station and further investigation started.
According to the reports, the deceased motorcycle rider was going to admit her minor daughter at Jawahar Navodaya Vidayala when the tragedy happened.
Pertinently, yesterday also, a grandmother and her granddaughter were killed in a road accident on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Santa Chack under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua.
