SAMBA, Apr 12: In a gruesome and barbaric act, a man killed his 21 year old son, and inflicted injuries on his wife and daughter early this morning at village Dakhi Sumb falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
The incident has sent shock waves around after the news spread in the area. The exact cause of murder is not known.
As per reports, Kulbir Singh of Dhaki Sumb in Samba district this morning attacked his son with a sharp edged weapon and later targeted his wife Poonam Singh and his 16 year old daughter Saloni with the same weapon (darat). He killed his son on the spot, while his wife and daughter received grievous injuries. Click here to watch video
Sarpanch of the area said that he after receiving the news from the local Panch reached the spot and also informed the police which too rushed there. He said Kulbir is a shopkeeper and his behaviour has always been normal. They have not come to know about any family dispute. He said Kulbir’s behaviour has always been normal and he met him yesterday but did not mention any thing that or said that he is having any problem in his family.
SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that Samba Police arrested Kulbir for committing murder of his son, attempting to murder his wife and injuring his daughter at Dhaki, Sumb falling in the jurisdiction of PP Goran of P/S Samba.
SSP said that police have registered a murder / attempt to murder case under FIR No. 78/2023 u/s 302/307 IPC at Police Station Samba through Police Post Goran and arrested the accused Kulbir Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Dhaki Sumb Samba. Further investigation in the case is going on.
Preliminary investigation revealed that early in the morning today accused Kulbir Singh attacked his 20 year old son, Jeetan Singh, wife Poonam and his 16 year old daughter with a sharp edged weapon of offence (‘darat’), killed his son and injured his wife & daughter.
On receiving information about the incident, police immediately swung into action, registered murder case, rushed to the spot, arrested accused and started further investigation.
Scene of Crime was visited by a police team comprising DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj, SHO Samba, Rajeshwar Singh and I/C PP Goran Sajid Jaral under the supervision of Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
