Father-son washed away in Chenab

RAMBAN, Jan 17: Father-son duo got washed away after the Maruti car they were traveling in fell into river Chenab near Jaswal Bridge in Karol area here on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number CH03-3174 was on its way to Ramban from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into river Chenab near Jaswal Bridge in Karol area this evening on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, resulting father-son duo getting washed away in the river.
After getting information, police team, Red Cross volunteers and Army personnel rushed to the spot and started operation to fish out the bodies of the deceased. SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar also reached the spot and supervised the operation.
The vehicle was brought out from the river and a mobile phone was recovered from it, which lead to the identification of the washed out father-son duo.
The deceased have been identified as Kesar Singh, son of Mohar Singh, a resident of Hochak Ukerhal, district Ramban and his son Partap Singh.
The bodies of the deceased were not traced out, when reports last were compiled.
A case in this regard has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
