DODA, Apr 4: An impressive ex-servicemen rally-cum-Fauji Mela was organized at Sports Stadium Doda today under the aegis of 4 Sector Rashtriya Rifles.
The rally was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding, 16 Corps and attended by hundreds of ex-servicemen and “Veer Naris” (war widows) from Chenab region.
The event was also attended by a number of civil dignitaries including DDC Doda Farooq Khan, SP Doda Mohammad Arif Rishu, ADDC Doda G N Balwan, ADC Doda Anil Koul, CPO Doda Dr Yasir Latifi Balwan along with representatives of Rashtriya Rifles Battalions, local youth and school children from various educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion GOC, 16 Corps complemented the ex-servicemen on their yeoman service to the nation and exhorted them to continue to contribute to society and nation building.
The event marked hearing of grievances of ex-servicemen by the Chairman, Zila Sainik Board and representative of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion who assured early redressal of the problems.
Later on “Veer Naris” were felicitated by giving away monetary assistance to them by GOC Commanding 16 Corps, GOC, Counter Insurgency Force (DELTA) and DC Doda.
The Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Major SL Khajuria (Retd) was also present on the occasion to note the problems being faced by the ex-servicemen.
