FC Agriculture interacts with farmers

SAMBA, Apr 5: Financial Commissioner, Agriculture Production Department,  Pramod Jain visited various  fields and demonstration sites in the district and interacted with the farmers.
He was accompanied by Director Agriculture Ashok Kumar Malhotra, Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Kulbhushan Sambyal and Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba Iqbal Choudhary and other district and sub-divisional level officers.
Financial Commissioner interacted with the Self Help Group of Women Farmers created under Food Security Mission in village Dhanore of Agriculture Zone Yakh and appreciated the efforts of  women farmers for taking keen interest in the agriculture activities and exhorted them to take the benefits of all the Government schemes being implemented  for  improving the economic condition of the farmers .
He   also visited the  seed village of wheat (HD-2967) spread over an area of 24 kanals in village Kotli Matkalian Ramgarh laid under PMKSY-ATMA.
Another cluster demonstration of wheat under NFSM, covering 12 farmers at village Sujana at Rajpura was also inspected by Jain.
While interacting with the officers and field functionaries of the department Jain asked them   to be punctual, disciplined and dedicated towards farmers welfare. He  laid great stress on timely completion of targets of KCC and Soil Health Cards and  stressed on ensuring  100% coverage of farmers under KCC and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He also asked the officials to work on the concept of integrated farming to improve   farmers income .
During the interaction, it was decided  that the cultivation of Haldi, Pulses and Seasme will be taken on with renewed efforts to help farmers in diversification of their crop.
Financial Commissioner  gave a patient hearing to  the problems being faced by the officials of the department and assured that measures will be taken to mitigate them.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture Ashok Malhotra informed that requisite steps are afoot to achieve the set targets.
Earlier, Chief agriculture Officer, Iqbal Choudhary apprised the Financial Commissioner  about the activities being carried out by the department.
