JAMMU, Oct 23: Food Corporation of India (FCI) employees staged protest dharna in the area offices across the State today.
The employees under the banner of FCI Executive Staff Union and Bhartiya Khadiya Nigam Sangh (BKNS) on the call of their National Executive Unions observed one day dharna at area office Jammu and Srinagar today. The day long dharna was staged to press for their pending demands.
They are demanding immediate approval and implementation of new pension scheme, post retirement medical scheme and modified assured career progression scheme which was settled through memorandum of settlement by unions with FCI management and MoS approved by the GoI, improvement in storage losses norms, appointment of transit insurance agents for food gains movement, sanction of additional staff strength for increased work load, accelerate recruitment process to overcome the acute shortage of staff and percentage based fringe benefits under cafeteria approach to Cat-III and IV at par with Cat-I and II in FCI.
The state secretary, Sukhdev Singh of the FCI, ESU said that as per Central Committee programme, a dharna on October 30 shall be held at all FCI Regional Offices in the country, day long dharna at zonal offices on November 6 and three day fast at the residence of Prof K V Thomas, Union Minister for CAPD from November 19 onwards. A nation wide one day strike would be held on November 22, 2013.
