Srinagar, Apr 13: The enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department Kashmir today sealed 3 establishments during market checking at Lal Chowk, Ali Kadal and Rawalpora in Srinagar for violation of the Essential Commodities Act.
Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director, Enforcement told Excelsior that the enforcement team of the department also recovered more than two lakh rupees fine from the traders.
He said that 33 shops were also sealed during this month period, including Mutton shops, Chicken shops, vegetable and Bakery shops after they were found selling the items at high rates other than fixed by the government even as three FIRs were also lodged against the violators
The officials said that the market checking drives have been started following complaints from different sections of the society regarding illegal enhancement of rates by the shopkeepers dealing with different consumable items.
Wani said that the drive will continue and strict action under law shall follow against the violators.
