JAMMU, Sept 15: Fair Price Shops Ration Dealers Association Jammu has alleged that Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department has failed to pay the dues/commission of the ration dealers pending for the last eight months.
President of the Association, Prabh Dayal Sharma, has alleged that Government ration dealers in Jammu City (Circle I&II), have not been paid their pending commission of eight months. They alleged that Association had conveyed its concern to the Director FCS&CA Jammu Jitender Singh but the Department has miserably failed to pay the dues. Not only commission, but the carriage, food-grain handling (loading unloading) charges are also pending. The migrants ration commission is also pending for the last one year. They have paid just one month’s commission/handling charges during this year so far while payments/dues worth over Rs 4 crore are still pending.
The Association further pointed out that Deputy Commissioner Jammu vide his order No. DCJ/PS/2018-19/262-264 dated 16-10-2018, revised the carriage/ freight charges of food-grains to the ration dealers for Jammu City Circle I & II to Rs 59 within 1 km to 20 kms but the department despite this order is still paying to the dealers on the old rate of Rs 30 per quintal and has not implemented the order. The Association demanded the intervention of the Advisor concerned and also sought an inquiry into the matter.
It was further pointed out that in Kashmir, the ration dealers deposit money in treasury/bank after sale of foodgrains/ ration but in Jammu dealers are made to deposit money in advance and then the ration is released. Moreover, in Srinagar City, the FCS&CA has made own arrangement of vehicles for supply of ration to various outlets under SMC jurisdiction where as in Jammu City, the dealers are made to carry ration from the CAPD stores by managing private vehicles/ load carriers. The Department is discriminating the Jammu dealers. The Association demanded that old supply system through Government owned/ hired vehicles be restored in Jammu also. They warned to launch strike if the their demands are not addressed.
