FCS&CA seals 5 shops for violation, realises fine

Srinagar, Mar 29: Enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department today recovered a fine of Rs.10400 from 7 erring shopkeepers, besides, 4 mutton and a bakery shop were also sealed for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
In this regard, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director (Enforcement) FCS&CA told Excelsior that the action against the erring shopkeepers was carried out during a market checking drive in various areas of Srinagar City including Bemina Bypass, Tengpora, Peerbagh, Hyderpora, Habak, Zakura and Hazratbal.
During the market checking, officials said, 71 business establishments were inspected and a penal sum was recovered from the erring besides sealing a few shops, moreover, the erring lot was reprimanded to remain careful in future.
The officials said that the drive will continue with the same passion in future as well and whosoever is found violating the norms will be brought to justice.
