Srinagar, Nov 26: As the pensioners were demanding that the submission of Life Certificates be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Finance Department today decided to postpone the submission of the same by the pensioners as well as the family pensioners till the end of January next year.
However, the Finance Department has also made it clear that that the pension for the extended period shall be paid uninterrupted without any delay.
As per the rules and regulations, the pensioners who are drawing pension through Treasury/Bank are required to produce a Life Certificate once in a Calendar Year, while the same is every year needed to be done by the pensioners by the end of November.
The Finance Department said that, due to the prevalent COVID-19 restrictions/guidelines, it is not feasible for all the pensioners, “particularly the old aged pensioners to submit their certificates in time.”
However, due to the COVID situation, the Finance Department said, there was a growing demand from the pensioners to extend the last date of the furnishing of Life Certificates up to 31.01.2022, and in response to which the Finance Department has finally taken a call and has issued the guidelines in favour of the pensioners demanding postponement.
“In view of above, to avoid the rush at Bank/Treasury while maintaining social distance and to facilitate the elderly pensioners to furnish the mandatory Life Certificate to the concerned authority of Bank/Treasury, the date for submission of Life Certificate by the pensioners is hereby extend till 31.01.2022,” the Finance Department said.
It further said that the submission of the same needs to be done before the new date, and all the Pensioners/Family Pensioners shall, therefore, furnish their Life Certificate to the concerned Bank/Treasury by or before 31.01.2022 failing which their pension shall not be disbursed.
As per the directives that have been issued, it has been directed that the pension for the extended period will be paid uninterrupted. “During this extended period, the pension will continue to be paid by the Pension Disbursing Authority (PDAs), uninterrupted,” the Finance Department said.
It also directed the Pensioners/Family Pensioners having a valid Aadhar that they can also submit their Life Certificate digitally through the “Jeevan Pramaan” portal.
