FD releases Rs 55 cr to Div Coms, DCs for COVID mitigation

JAMMU, May 14: The Finance Department of J&K Government has released Rs. 55 crore under Disaster Response Fund which the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the Union Territory may use to mitigate COVID-19 crisis.
It is pertinent to mention here that the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing unprecedented casualties and infections of deadly Coronavirus due to the second wave of the pandemic.
As per an order, Deputy Director Budget, Finance Department stated that the decision of funds shall be got duly approved by the State Executive Committee.
It elaborated this by further stating that all the 20 Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of J&K will get Rs. 2.25 crore each while each of the two Divisional Commissioners of the UT will get Rs. 5 crore to meet COVID crisis.
Out of the funds released to the DCs, up to Rs. 25 lakh could be used for meeting disaster related needs of the police by each DC.
“The funds shall be utilized as per SDRF norms of Government of India including the recent relaxation/modifications for COVID-19 related activities,” the order stated.
It stated that the DMRR&R Department shall communicate latest SDRF norms to Divisional Commissioner and all Deputy Commissioners.
The order further said that the Utility Certificates (UCs) of previous releases, if any, and the current release shall be furnished within stipulated time frame immediately after expenditure is incurred as further installments shall be released only once UCs are submitted in a time bound manner.
